Prof. Gao Changyou of the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University visited Tongee in the afternoon of August 11, 2021.

Prof. Gao is the dean and doctoral advisor of the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering of Zhejiang University. His research mainly focuses on tissue repair and regeneration materials, adaptive biomaterials, surface modification of biomaterials, nano-biomaterials, and the research and development of medical devices. As the project director, Prof. Gao has successively undertaken 1 project funded by the National Key R&D Program, 6 general projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 1 project funded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 3 key projects funded by NSFC, 1 key International Joint Research project funded by NSFC, and 2 research projects on biomaterial for the "973 Program". He also participated in the "Scientific Research on Fundamental Issues of Tissue Engineering" of the "973 Program". In addition, he has compiled the Adaptive Biomaterials (published by China Science Publishing & Media), Medical Biomaterials (published by Chemical Industry Press), and Polymeric Biomaterials for Tissue Regeneration: From Surface/Interface Design to 3D Constructs (published by Springer), and has participated in the writing and compiling of many other monographs and obtained over 70 national invention patents.

During this visit, Prof. Gao shared his insights on the innovative medical technologies and scientific research environment of Tongee and had a friendly academic discussion with Tongee on the latest technologies in the field of polymer biomaterials and innovative medical devices. He noted that "academic exchanges are very important" and hopes that Zhejiang University and Tongee can share the latest cutting-edge scientific research experience and relevant information, jointly promote the further breakthrough of medical research and thus bolster the rapid development of medical technology in China through this in-depth exchange.

Tongee is a national innovative enterprise dedicated to the research and development of new medical technologies to treat various metabolic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and non-alcoholic fatty liver. Founded by a number of high-caliber talents and senior experts with years of working experience in the medical device industry, Tongee possesses a strong consultant team comprised of the former chairman of the Chinese Society of Digestive Endoscopology, chairman of the Chinese Diabetes Society, and director of the Biomaterial Engineering Research Center of Sichuan University. Tongee is currently committed to developing new approaches for the treatment of metabolic diseases.

It is reported that as early as September 2018, Tongee, together with Zhejiang University and Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, has applied for and obtained the approval for the "Provincial Key R&D Program": Research on New Technologies for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases - Clinical Study of the Implantation of the Gastric Bypass Stent System in the Treatment of Obesity-Induced Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver.;

Three years have passed since then and Tongee has made more breakthroughs in innovative technologies. Accompanied by Mr. Zuo Yuxing (the chairman and CEO of Tongee) and Walter (the head of R&D), Prof. Gao had an in-depth tour of Tongee and learned about its current innovative scientific research projects, clinical research progress and future development plans. Prof. Gao spoke highly of the scientific research capability of Tongee and the advancement, creativity, and practicality of its several innovative technologies. He also said that "the technology of 'Gastric Bypass Stent System' developed by Tongee is currently the first of its kind in China and its research will promote the development of innovative medical technologies in China. I hope that the Research Institute of Zhejiang University can carry out in-depth collaboration with Tongee in the future to facilitate the combination of academic achievements and innovative products, strengthen talent support for the development of medical innovation in China, and further promote the cooperation among medical enterprises, universities and scientific research institutions.";

After the end of the discussion, Mr. Zuo Yuxing, on behalf of Tongee, extended a warm welcome to Prof. Gao. His visit proves that the scientific research ability of Tongee is recognized by academic institutions. Prof. Gao's recognition and encouragement will undoubtedly boost the confidence and motivation of Tongee in the R&D and production of innovative products for the treatment of metabolic diseases. ;

Tongee is deeply committed to the research and development of new technologies to treat metabolic diseases, and will continue to provide and improve its advanced medical technologies by making full use of its advantageous resources in technology, talent, and market. In the meantime, it is also hoped that Tongee and Zhejiang University will continue to communicate and collaborate with each other in order to bolster the rapid development of the healthcare industry with strong scientific research capacity, advance the progress in innovative medical technology, and promote the cooperation among medical enterprises, universities and scientific research institutions for building a healthy China.
